Mind over Matter?

I went out running this morning. I love running because a lot of things go through my mind and I retrieve my best ideas and am able to solve a lot of problems.  This morning I was remembering how I feel when I eat dairy products. I am lactose intolerant. When I consume dairy food, I am physically in pain even though I love eating milk chocolate and cottage cheese. Well, pain is a great motivator to stop doing the things that cause it.  I was thinking what a waste that would be to toss it into the trash. A friend reminded me that it would all end up in the trash anyhow. Just the passage to get there was not through my body. I should not have bought it in the first place. When I like food but can’t have it, there is a battle between my head (mind) and my body cravings (matter).  Mind over Matter, right?

I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Psychology and behavior and cognition have always been fascinating to me. Maybe I could make an experiment: When people want to eat food but know it’s not making their body feel good, would they eat it anyways?   Is that what may be the problem with obesity? Oh, and then there is a third variable: the person has to KNOW it’s not making their body feel good and have to have that awareness knowing what caused them not to feel good. In my experiment I would need to control for that third variable. If I ask people before the experiment if they know which foods don’t make them feel good, I would be able to control who participates. But, then I would draw awareness to them knowing which foods will be making them feel bad and they might be able to control their consumption. Hmm, maybe that experiment would need better planning. But, is that really all it takes? Do we just need to heighten our awareness to consciously knowing which foods we should eat more of to feel better? One factor involved in which foods make your body feel better is your blood type. I am blood type O positive. That means my body feels better when I eat vegetables. That may be the reason I don’t like eating meat, let alone fish. But some people may have developed a taste for foods they should not be eating because that’s what was on the table when they were children. With our conscious awareness and knowing our blood type, we might be able to control the cravings we have. After I learned that cravings go away after a couple of months not eating the food, it made it possible to just set a short-term goal not eating the food and I noticed how my body felt without it. That sounds like a good way to master Mind over Matter. If we believe we can eat it, but choose not to, we think that we are in control and just chose not to eat something. If we think we “can’t” eat a certain food, the temptation get’s stronger and as humans we like a challenge.  I chose to believe that I can eat this food if I wanted to. But I didn’t want to and I tossed my M&M’s and cottage cheese into the trash.  My Mind won. And with that, my body also won. That’s what you call a  win/win situation.

Do you have any Assets?

 Did you know that there are different types of assets?  It all depends on in what direction your thoughts go. Body conscious people think of their assets in terms of their figure, their looks, their curves, and if you are a man your muscle mass. A materialistic person thinks of assets as their possessions, such as home, car, stereo, or flat screen tv. A financially secure person considers assets those things that will generate income, i.e. their property, business, stocks and bonds.  But not many people think of assets something that everyone starts with. The things you possessed when you were born. Yes, you were born naked (at least I believe so), but you still have things that not every person has. Your gifts and talents. Those are assets, too. After all, how else can someone build anything up in life without the gift or talent they possess. Everyone builds up their lives with some type of imagination. That is an asset, too. Some other assets are creativity, vision, generosity, courage, boldness, persistence, integrity, expert connections and customer data base, valuable skills, selling, persuasion, marketing, and time management. Every person that has accomplished financial independence had to use one or some or maybe all of these assets. You generate these assets with your thoughts. For this reason, thoughts become things.  Literally, as a beginner in life or a business, you only need three resources: a good idea, the commitment to do it, and the key contacts who possess all the other resources.  That’s it!  Easy?  Not for every one. Some people have trouble thinking the positive “asset” way, instead they think in a “liability” type of way, which is in forms of anger, small mindedness, fear, anxiety, procrastination, hesitation, and laziness.  We should keep away from those habits, and dare even talk about it. What you talk about will manifest, so be careful. We don’t have to eat everything we see. And we don’t have to say everything we think. Let’s begin by watching our words and speaking (and therefore thinking) with good purpose only. if it doesn’t serve, don’t say it.

So, have every thought on purpose; and then…… Live every day on purpose!

Trying to get rich fast?

Most people complain about how much they work and still not having enough money. My mom used to say: how come at the end of the money there is still so much month left?  Most hard-working Americans have more than half of their hard-earned wages sucked out for taxes, and then they get to live on the left-overs – called “take-home pay.” So, the only option we can think of is play the lottery and hope we will win. But the funny thing is, if we were to win a lot of money, first of all, most people would not know how to protect their money. Secondly, they would pay most of it in taxes back to Uncle Sam. So, it’s actually the government who wins. The question is, how can a small person get ahead and get “a break”. Funny you should ask. Congress passed more than 100 tax laws that give tax breaks to home based business owners. The thought behind that was when people lose their jobs, the government does not want the person to go to the unemployment office first thing the next day. If they have a home based business, hopefully the person would invest more time into it and make it full-time. The regular employee earns their money, pay tax, and get to live on the left overs. The home based business owner earn the money, pays all bills and business expenses and themselves, THEN pay tax on the left-overs. Now there is a thought. To qualify for this tax break, all you need is a home based business. Then you can start writing off part of your rent, your car usage, and even your children’s allowance. (Congress said, a 6-year-old can do adequate work for their parents home based business while remaining in a safe environment). You can also write off up to $5000.00 Dollars for starting up a business because Congress understands that you had to make investments before you can make a profit. Doesn’t that sound awesome? I’m in! Not only can you get a tax break on April 15th, but you can keep more of your money of your regular pay check since Congress assumes you need to keep investing to keep your business running.  A lot of people are careful and need to think about things. I understand that, but you need to also understand, every minute you “think” about it and procrastinate, you are throwing $20 Dollars out of the window. You get to deduct $100 Dollars a week from your taxes just by claiming you have a home based business. The only requirement is that you have the intent to make a profit (I don’t know anyone who would not want that), and you have to put in at least 3 to 4 hours of work per week for your business. That’s it. You don’t even have to stick with the business. You can change your mind and go with another product if you like a different one better.

The best part about owning a home based business is that you get to do it from your home. You can work it around your own schedule, while your baby is napping or the kids are in school. You can invest as much time as you want and you get to socialize with adults. (I know what it’s like to be a stay-home mom)

Why Purified Water and Distilled Water are Bad For You

During nearly 19 years of clinical practice I have had the opportunity to observe the health effects of drinking different types of water. Most of you would agree that drinking unfiltered tap water could be hazardous to your health because of things like parasites, chlorine, fluoride and dioxins. Many health fanatics, however, are often surprised to hear me say that drinking distilled water or purified water on a regular, daily basis is potentially dangerous.
Distillation is the process in which water is boiled, evaporated and the vapor condensed. Reverse osmosis or purified water is free of dissolved minerals and, because of this, has the special property of being able to actively absorb toxic substances from the body and eliminate them. Studies validate the benefits of drinking purified water when one is seeking to cleanse or detoxify the system for short periods of time (a few weeks at a time). Fasting using purified water can be dangerous because of the rapid loss of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride) and trace minerals like magnesium, deficiencies of which can cause heart beat irregularities and high blood pressure.
Purified water is an active absorber and when it comes into contact with air, it absorbs carbon dioxide, making it acidic. The more purified water a person drinks, the higher the body acidity becomes. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, “Purified” water, being essentially mineral-free, is very aggressive, in that it tends to dissolve substances with which it is in contact. Notably, carbon dioxide from the air is rapidly absorbed, making the water acidic and even more aggressive. Many metals are dissolved by distilled water.
Most toxic commercial beverages that people consume (i.e. cola beverages and other soft drinks) are made from purified water. Studies have consistently shown that heavy consumers of soft drinks (with or without sugar) spill huge amounts of calcium, magnesium and other trace minerals into the urine. The more mineral loss, the greater the risk for osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, hypothyroidism, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure and a long list of degenerative diseases generally associated with premature aging.
A growing number of health care practitioners and scientists from around the world have been advocating the theory that aging and disease is the direct result of the accumulation of acid waste products in the body. There is a great deal of scientific documentation that supports such a theory. A poor diet may be partially to blame for the waste accumulation. Stress, whether mental or physical can lead to acid deposits in the body. There is a correlation between the consumption of soft water (purified water is extremely soft) and the incidence of cardiovascular disease. Cells, tissues and organs do not like to be dipped in acid and will do anything to buffer this acidity including the removal of minerals from the skeleton and the manufacture of bicarbonate in the blood. I have done well over 3000 mineral evaluations using a combination of blood, urine and hair tests in my practice. Almost without exception, people who consume purified water exclusively, eventually develop multiple mineral deficiencies. Those who supplement their purified or distilled water intake with trace minerals are not as deficient but still not as adequately nourished in minerals as their non-purified water drinking counterparts even after several years of mineral supplementation. Purified water tends to be acidic and can only be recommended as a way of drawing poisons out of the body. Once this is accomplished, the continued drinking of purified water is a bad idea. Alkaline ionized Water is the best possible drinking water. Disease and early death is more likely to be seen with the long-term drinking of purified or distilled water. Avoid it except in special circumstances (that means if you have gone  already 3 days without water).

Did you know that your diet and what type of water you drink makes the biggest impact on your body and weight? In 1931 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for this important discovery. Dr. Warburg was director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute (now Max Planck Institute) for cell physiology at Berlin. He investigated the metabolism of tumors and the respiration of cells, particularly cancer cells. Below are some direct quotes by Dr. Warburg during medical lectures where he was the keynote speaker: “Cancerous tissues are acidic, whereas healthy tissues are alkaline. Water splits into H+ and OH- ions, if there is an excess of H+, it is acidic; if there is an excess of OH- ions, then it is alkaline.” In his work

The Metabolism of Tumours

Warburg demonstrated that all forms of cancer are characterized 

by two basic conditions: acidosis and hypoxia (lack of oxygen). “Lack of oxygen and acidosis are two sides of the same coin: where you have one, you have the other.””All normal cells have an absolute requirement for oxygen, but cancer cells can live without oxygen – a rule without exception.“ “Deprive a cell 35% of its oxygen for 48 hours and it may become cancerous.” Dr. Warburg has made it clear that the root cause of cancer is oxygen deficiency, which creates an acidic state in the human body. Dr. Warburg also discovered that cancer cells are anaerobic (do not breathe oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen, as found in an alkaline state.

 

 

 

If you don’t want the truth, then why ask the question?

YOu know, it’s funny to me how people will approach me and ask me how they can lose 10 lbs or get in better shape. Then when I tell them, they are disappointed. Did they think I had a secret magic dust that I would just sprinkle on them and Voila? And besides, magic dust is very expensive and I would not want to waste it on someone who is not serious. You take the time to ask me the question, and then I take the time to answer. But after all is said and done, the person walks away with the same mindset that they came to approach me in the first place. Now the person wasted my time and their time. Taking care of your health and body is serious business. And a business should be treated like a person. You have to feed and nurture it. It’s like everything else in life. If it’s worth having, then it is worth working for. Nothing in life is free, not even a healthy body. Yes, your body itself was free, but there are maintenance and upkeep expenses. Do not fool yourself into thinking that your body is maintenance free and will stay one way forever. Let me ask you something: what kind of car are you driving? And – if you care what kind of car you are driving, what it looks like and if it has dings and dents in it, then why don’t you care about what kind of vessel your soul has to dwell in for the rest of your earthly life? We all have standards, but why is it that when it comes to our bodies and health, we lower the standards? Ironically though, in a partner we have higher expectations than what we are willing to offer them. We all should care what we put into our bodies, just like we care what kind of fuel or oil we put into our cars. Problems maintaining your weight?

I really care about this subject. It consumes me with worries, that so many Americans have weight and health problems.  How come Europeans don’t?  When we look at the eating habits of each group, we see a significant difference in the purpose of food. American’s eat for recreation: What do you wanna do? – Go out for Dinner? Take popcorn into the theatre? Sit down for a drink?  In Europe, when someone asks what to do, most of the time the response is: Go dancing? Play tennis? Meet at the zoo? There is not so much food involved in their recreation and social events. Food serves the purpose to sustain aliveness, because we need it for fuel, but not for a reason to meet and hang out with someone.

It is so easy, but most people want a quick fix, have their cake and eat it, too. Literally! Unfortunately, life is not how it used to be. We no longer have to use our energy to hunt down our dinner or fish our breakfast. It is readily available whenever we are ready to consume it. But even to find out the truth about food and our metabolic system, businesses take advantage of the naïveté of consumers and try to sell them a pill, or a diet cook book, or anything that the consumer is willing to buy. Truth is hard to come by. Sadly, the misinformed people pass their habits of consumption on to their children. I see children getting out of the car with their soft drink and a happy meal. People are appalled by the media informing us of how many children there are with cancer. What do we expect? Why are people preferring convenience to health? And how much time do you really save by picking up a quick meal on your way? I can prepare a home cooked meal in 30 mins, the amount of time it takes a person to stop by a drive through, order, and get home. I don’t believe it’s saving you time, but rather speeding up your time before you will be depending on someone else to care for you. And then, would you want them to bring you your last burger?  And, do you want fries with that?

I was sick for four days!!! FOUR days?!! I have not been sick in 6 years and hardly knew how to act. But anyways, enough about me. I finally recovered and today for the first time in 5 days was able to breathe some fresh air.  I am a generally healthy person and I don’t want to know how much longer I would be sick if it wasn’t for my amazingly strong immune system to get me back on track.  Or what I would do if I was sick until…….?

So, I woke up to a text message from my daughter telling me that one of my co-workers/buddies died last Thursday, leaving behind a wife and 2 young adult children. Just one year after my other co-worker/buddies died, leaving behind a wife, 2 young adult daughters and one grand baby. My first buddy died just four months after I had decided to obtain the lifestyle I deserve and worked for and moved to Hawaii. I needed to have more peace in my life and enjoy more of my free time doing what I like, instead of sitting on a freeway trying to get home.   My move happened a year and a half ago. Anyways, now this.   I used to be concerned about both of their health. Apparently more concerned than they were themselves. I actually filled up containers with alkaline water and brought the water to them. My buddy who died a year ago would not even drink the water. He told me that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Really?? But he already knew how to drink. (?) The second buddy expected that he would continue to get his water delivered to his house. At least he drank the water but getting it himself was out of the question. Now, my supervisor falls in the same category, but he is still alive. A year ago he had heart surgery…….do I need to say more?

The thing is, what is more expensive – a healthier lifestyle or ignoring facts. How much does it cost you to drink healthy water (www.enagic.com)? Last week I was telling a friend about healthy alkaline coffee. He inquired about the price. I guess $1.00 per sachez is too expensive (www.ullascoffeehouse.organogold.com). Where it is acceptable that Starbucks charges almost $5.00 for a Latte!!!  I am not sure I can follow this type of thinking. The price of my health, and possibly missing watching my kids grow up, and having grand kids…..is just too high! I am not sure if I should attribute this action, or better, lack of, to laziness or stubbornness.  But it is simply not smart.  Wake up and smell the coffee, America! The FDA is not looking out for your best interest. What are they regulating anyway? How fast or how a person should die? They are certainly not making sure the products consumers are offered are healthy, let alone safe to consume! I found out, in life, thinking is mandatory. “Question authority” is what my English teacher in college used to tell me. And I have never stopped questioning since.

What Millionaires say…..

ImageWhen it comes to money, we believe that outside circumstances are in control of how fortunate we are. The truth is, what every wealthy person will tell you, it’s all in your head. Money is energy and the energy that you give off will return to you. If you give off the though with the waves that it is hard to earn money, then circumstances will come back to you to support your thoughts.

Basically, it’s all in your head. Thoughts become things and if you are not controlling your thoughts, your thoughts will control what will and will not happen and in effect control you and your life. This is supported by the books “Rich Dad, Poor Dad“, “Think yourself Rich”, “Think and Grow Rich“, Soar to the Top”, and “The Secret“. All of these books have the same message.

The way our educational institutions work today does not support this type of thinking. In fact, Schools create mentalities of good employees, but not good employers. It creates followers but not leaders. There are many things wrong with our current education system, one of which is that it is so outdated and does not give our kids the tools needed to put their learning into good practice. They are not given the tools to create their own ideas and plans to support themselves financially. They are taught to believe that you need to work hard to earn good money and education will “buy” them a ticket to better income. The opposite is true today. Many people were led to believe, the more they know the more money they make. Not so true today! In fact, there are more educated people either jobless or struggling financially than ever in history. What is left to do? We need to prepare our kids as parents and help them guide their thoughts and creativity. Kids need to be encouraged and supported to make their dream a reality. This will grow our country and this world into sophisticated technologies needed today to advance people to higher and better lifestyles. We are all created to have abundance and a happy life. Let’s put that thought and idea into the minds of our children, who are, unlike us, still fearless and courageous. They have not lived with much skepticism. Never tell a person they can’t do something. All things are possible and to put something into reality starts with a single thought.
